Not All Squats
Are Created Equal

Machine squats may limit your gains. Canadian scientists say free weights work your muscles harder than the Smith machine, which is the squat station with a built-in bar that runs on guides. “The Smith machine stabilizes the barbell, requiring your muscles to work less,” says study author Phil Chilibeck, Ph.D. Free weights, like dumbbells or barbells, provide a better overall training effect by stressing more muscle fibers in your body. In fact, there is a 43% increase in leg-muscle activation doing free-weight squats instead of using a Smith machine.

Our Pilates Studio is dedicated to providing the highest quality, alternative fitness instruction available in the Columbus area. We specialize in the methods developed by Joseph H. Pilates – updated with a modern approach to total health and well-being. Pilates works as a total conditioning program by developing balance, strength, flexibility, and coordination.

Pilates provided at Move Your Mind® prides itself on bringing the one-on-one attention to its clientele that Joseph H. Pilates thought was so crucial to mastering his method. We offer both private studio lessons, where we can assure that there are no distractions or group mat classes where methods will be performed in a group setting. All sessions and classes are one hour in length and will be with one of our Certified Pilates Instructors.

Gyrotonic

Gyrotonic® is a unique, 30 year old exercise system that combines the principles of swimming, ballet, yoga, tai-chi, and gymnastics. By using our Gyrotonic Tower®, an apparatus designed by creator Juliu Horvath, you can expect to stretch, strengthen, and elongate your muscles while improving your balance, coordination, strength, and flexability. This system is being used worldwide by dancers, athletes, rehabilitation facilities, as well as for general conditioning amongst people of all ages, from children to senior citizens.

A 24-hour cancellation notice is required and all “no-shows” will be charged one lesson.
Lessons may be purchased individually or in packages of 5 or 12 lessons.
In addition, all lessons have a 3-month expiration from the date of purchase.
